Currently watching: K-On

K-On follows a school band consisted of Yui Hirasawa, Ritsu Tainaka, Mio Akiyama, and Tsumugi Kotobuki.

This is the 3rd time I watched an anime that has a band playing in it. The other two were Haruhi Suzumiya, and Lucky Star (although if my memory serves me right, we didn’t get to see the performance).

Although a slice-of-life type of anime, I’m enjoying every episode even though I had to go through the first episode as if it’s worst ever anime made to human kind (somehow, this is my normal reaction to any new anime).

To establish a club, you need at least four people. And that’s how these people met each other. Mio and Ritsu are childhood friends while Tsumugi was interested in joining in after she saw how cheerful Mio and Ritsu are. And Yui… well, she lied to get into the club.

The club’s name is Light Music Club.

Yui, an airhead that somehow do things to the extreme and a bummer as well. She plays on a guitar, while Ritsu on drums, Mio on bass and Tsumugi on keyboard.

At first, Yui doesn’t even know how to play guitar. She even cheated on her application form. Although things doesn’t get ugly, she undergoes a rigorous training by the cute Mio Akiyama.

Mio taught her how to read music, and teaches her how to play the guitar.

While Mio is busy teaching Yui how to play guitar, Tsumugi uses her talent to make cakes and all the delicious foods that everyone want to eat (since Yui is such a lazy arse, she used this to motivate her to study). She’s the cutest of all, IMHO.

Ritsu is the president of the “Ligh Music Club” and she’s on drums. She’s good at it and loves to play pranks on Mio. Mio blushes easily and she’s afraid to be on stage. It’s been her problem since she was a kid and Ritsu loves to show her things that make her so afraid and shivering in fear (although its just some toys).

If you are interested in something other than fantasy/action, this could be good change of pace for you.

I liked it, and right now, I just finished watching episode 7 and will be watching episode 8 this midnight.

What’s your thought on this anime?

I’ll be posting pictures soon :)
